Like other women I struggle to find work and life balance from time to time. Trying to smooth out two working schedules between my husband and I along with embracing the tough days of parenting two young children can be quite taxing. People have asked me why I continue to support and lead the HHCA. The answer is quite simple. I believe in strong neighborhoods!
I joined the HHCA as a new addition to the neighborhood three years ago knowing that this could be the home that my kids will grow up in and that my husband and I may want to retire. Being new to the east side and somewhat new to Wisconsin in general I wanted to simply reach out and meet some new folks. My small effort of dropping into a monthly meeting led me to where I sit now as president of the HHCA. Through the HHCA I have met hundreds of wonderful people, learned more about my community and surrounding area resources and had great opportunities to network with other parents, business owners, government officials and inspiring career mentors that I would never have known. For that I am grateful. So, as the season of gratitude and giving comes upon us this year, please remember that any tiny gesture of goodwill can lead to great paths!
Additionally, for all of you that have stepped forward to help with the HHCA this year, please know that you are appreciated. The HHCA board of directors wishes you a very warm and neighborly holiday season and a happy new year!
Cheers - Heather
